화려한 휴가 (hwareyohan hyuga / Brilliant Vacation)

화려한 휴가 (hwaryeohan hyuga / Brilliant Vacation)

Cast: Kim Sang Kyung (김상경) | Ahn Sung Ki (안성기) | Lee Yo Won (이요원) | Lee Jun Ki (이준기) | Park Cheol Min (박철민)

Director: Kim Ji Hoon (김지훈)
Presented by: CJ Entertainment
Genre: Documentary, Mellowdramatic

Synopsis: “The film portrays the Gwangju Uprising, a defining moment in Korea’s modern history. 27 years ago, students of Gwangju initiated a protest against suppressive measures of the military dictator CHUN Doo Hwan and they were joined by other citizens; it resulted in the citizens taking control of the city.

However, CHUN answered with military force against the civilians and from May 18, 1980 until May 21 hundreds of civilians lost their lives and thousands were wounded.

At a press conference, director KIM Ji-hoon said that he wanted to make an accurate film of the massacre and to do justice to the people involved. Reportedly, at special screenings in Gwangju, the audience was emotionally overwhelmed by the film and applauded the film.

But there is another side to the film, stressed by director KIM and the actors. Director KIM explained that he wanted to focus on the people rather than sort of documenting the events. Therefore, he brought human aspects to the foreground.

AHN Sung-ki pointed out the heartwarming aspects of the film and the comical touches, which are often overlooked. Other actors also pronounced similar views on the film when they highlighted scenes between loved ones, along with emotionally heavy scenes and the importance of the subject matter.”

I Say: “TOUCHING!!! SAD!!! Yes, this movie is really thouching! I don’t really like documentary kind of movie, yet I enjoyed wathcing this movie. And of course I wanted to see Lee Joon Ki :P I cried and I’m not such a crybaby hehe.

I googled for the true story that happened on May 18. It’s true! Geez! It’s like Tragedi Semanggi for Indonesia. Only it seems worse…Well I dunno.”

Those put him into a situation that a teen like him can’t handle. Later there’s a new neighbour and Han Soo falls in love with the woman.

I Say: “So weird! Yes, this is a weird movie and not as good as I expected. At the beginning I enjoyed watching this movie. But then I felt so awkward. The romance beetwen Kim Han Soo and the next door neighbour was kind of crazy. Well, maybe there was no chemistry.”

Cast: Lim Chang-jung | Song Ji-hyo | Shin-yi | Choi Sung-kook | Yoo Chae Young | Lee Hwa-sun

Director: Yoon Sang Ho
Presented by: CJ Entertainment

Synopsis: After breaking up with Eun Hyo (Ha Ji Won - Sex Is Zero 1), Eun Sik (Im Chang Jun) meets Kyeong Ah, a popular swimming champion, and dates her. When a long-time friend of Kyeong Ah, Gi Joo, appears, Eun Sik begins to doubt himself when Gi Joo, a suaved prosecutor, tries to compete for Kyeong Ah’s affection.

I Say: “This movie is different from any other Korean movies I’ve ever watched, and so is the Sex Is Zero 1. There are some scenes that similar to the scenes in Sex Is Zero 1 9you’ll know when you see it). The story itself is not that different from the first movie. Still about a romance, sex, and so on that you have already seen in the first movie. What makes this no. 2 interesting is Song Ji Hyo (Goong, Jumong). Since this movie is a bit vulgar, the appearence of Song Ji Hyo made me curious haha…(you know…)”
